‘Drinka Pinta Milka Day’

George Taylor used a horse-drawn milk float to make daily deliveries of milk to households, whereas Mr and Mrs Hibbert of Gisborne Dairy acquired an early electric milk float, which carried the slogan ‘Silent efficiency’. The Hibberts, who are seen here with their driver Stan Ravenscroft, began business in 1948 with deliveries of 18 gallons of milk. By the time they sold their business to Express Dairies, they were dealing with 3,000 gallons. Mrs Hibbert reached the age of 100 in 2014.
